How long until I get my glasses if I order on-line?
We aim to deliver all orders within 10 days but please refer to our terms and conditions for full details.
Why can't I choose more than one lens option?
Our on-line lenses are carefully chosen so that each option includes all the lower price options where possible. For example, 1.6 lenses include anti-reflection and anti-scratch. Please note however that Sunsensor lenses are 1.56 rather than 1.6 index and are anti-scratch but not anti-reflection coated.
Tinted lens options, whether for cosmetic or sun purposes, can only be applied to ordinary plastic lenses but do include a FREE anti-scratch coating.
I need help with my prescription
Detailed help is available on-line via the menu bar at the very top of each page. Help topics include entering your prescription details and pupillary distance, help with frame sizes and materials, choosing Readers-to-go and information about various accessories. How do you get prices so low?
We don't test eyes and therefore don't have the cost of opticians to pay and consulting rooms to equip. We also manufacture lenses at our own central laboratory and buy frames in bulk. By combining these savings we can offer huge discounts both on-line and in-store.
Are your frames of lower quality than other opticians?
Absolutely not! Unlike some High Street names and Internet-only retailers we refuse to buy ultra-low cost, poor quality budget frames - we use our purchasing power and our cost-cutting strategy to buy only good quality models.
Do you use 'ready made' lenses?
No, we make lenses individually to prescription at our own central facility.
Will I get a guarantee?
Yes, we offer a full 12 month guarantee against defective materials or faulty workmanship.
Can I have confidence in your staff?
All Direct Specs personnel take part in a continuous training and appraisal programme. We aim to exceed the standard commonly found in High Street opticians.
Your glasses are so inexpensive - where's the catch?

Can I just buy a frame and get my lenses from my usual optician?
Yes, just choose zero power in each of the prescription boxes and put a note on your order that you want the frame without lenses.
